Leading by Serving
What sets this apart is not the number of events, but six years of continuity, a leadership role that grew year by year, and a commitment to keep going for at least ten.
Where It Comes From
“Nam did not inherit his father's hardship. He inherited the responsibility to remember it.”
My father grew up with very little in our home province. I did not live that childhood, and I am careful never to borrow his hardship as my own story. What I did inherit is a clear-eyed sense that I now enjoy opportunities his generation did not have.
His stories taught me something specific: a Tết gift, a small scholarship, or one adult willing to pay attention can change how a child sees their own future. So I chose to turn gratitude into responsibility — and over the years my role grew from taking part to organizing and leading.
By the numbers
Value given back per year (million ₫)
Tết-market gifts (≈300k × the year's vouchers) plus the two 10M₫/yr study funds.
Four Programs
The programs I run every year
Tết Zero-Đồng Market
VerifiedA full, dignified Tết for families in difficulty — where people choose what they need, free of charge, without feeling they are receiving charity.
I founded and run this market for Đông Quan commune (Hưng Yên) — recruiting volunteers, sourcing goods, and designing it so families choose what they need with dignity rather than queue for handouts.
Recognition: Recognised with commune-level commendations in Đông Quan — founded and run every year.
Mid-Autumn for Children
VerifiedJoy, presence and connection for children — being there, not just handing out gifts.
I helped plan the activities and coordinate the team so the evening belonged to the children, with games and stories rather than a stage and a photo.
Recognition: Plan, activities, team, children reached and feedback.
“Spring of Love” Tết Program
VerifiedA warm Tết for lonely elderly, families in hardship, and students who keep striving despite difficulty — presence and dignity, not just gifts.
I founded and chair this program — bringing gifts and, more importantly, time and attention to elderly neighbours, struggling households and hardworking students. I learned that presence matters more than presents.
Recognition: Beneficiary lists and photos on file; stories only shared with consent.
The Bao Nam Study-Encouragement Fund
VerifiedLong-term opportunity, not a one-day gift — two study funds I founded and run, 10,000,000₫ each per year: one for disadvantaged, high-achieving pupils at Đông Lĩnh Primary School (awarded at the start of each school year), and one for children of Đông An hamlet, Đông Quan commune, Hưng Yên (awarded at Mid-Autumn).
This is the program I care most about — I initiated and run both funds myself. Each has now run for six years, and I've committed to keep them going for at least ten, because a fund that keeps going changes years of a child's life, not a single day.
Recognition: Recognised by the Hưng Yên Study-Encouragement Association — both funds award 10,000,000₫ every year.
“Fairy-Tale Garden” Playground
VerifiedA safe, joyful place to play for the youngest children — turning a bare schoolyard into a garden they look forward to every morning.
I led this project as its organizer — rallying volunteers, parents and sponsors to build a “Fairy-Tale Garden” playground for Đông Lĩnh Preschool. My role was to bring people together around one shared effort, so the children would have somewhere to play that the whole community had a hand in building.
Recognition: Led as project organizer for Đông Lĩnh Preschool — built together with the community.
How leadership actually shows up
Not a title — a repeatable way of turning a need into a program that outlasts a single event.

Service Timeline10-Year Commitment
From giving a gift on a single day, toward creating opportunity that can change years of a person's life.
- Keep the Tết and Mid-Autumn programs running on a clear, published schedule.
- Grow the education fund with transparent criteria and long-term tracking.
- Build a student successor team so the programs do not depend on any one person.
- Connect service with technology classes, mentoring, AvaB or EduVision-AI where it genuinely fits.
- Measure long-term impact, not just count gifts handed out.
